History of photography 1900 – 1930

1900 - Kodak introduces the brownie camera

1902 - Photo-Secession movement promoted and led by photographer Alfred Steiglitz

1902 -Telephotography developed by Arthur Korn

1907- Color film Autochrome plates introduced by the Lumiere brothers

1917- Nippon Kogaku established in Tokyo which eventually becomes Nikon

1921- Man Ray begins making photograms

1924- Leitz introduces the first 35mm Leica camera

1925- Andre Kertesz begins his 11-year project to photograph the street life of Paris

Edward Curtis – Ethnologist and photographer of the American West and Native American People

Lewis Hine – Early Documentary photographer

Paul Strand – Early modernist photographer

Man Ray - American Surrealist Photographer

Edward Weston – An American photographer who is considered to be one of the Masters of 20th century photography.

Andre Kertesz – Hungarian Photographer and photojournalist.
